SGHS Knowledge Fiesta 2014

Gregorian Quiz Club of St. Gregory's High School is going to organize 'Citycell-SGHS Knowledge Fiesta-2014'. The event is going to take place on June 6th and 7th.

EVENT REVIEW & RULES & REGULATIONS

The Contests will be generally divided into 3 groups
• Junior Group : Class VI-VIII
• Secondary Group : Class IX-X
• Higher Secondary Group : Class XI-XII
• University Group

General Knowledge Bowl

• Quiz Bowl team will consist of three members.
• A Preliminary written test will be taken to select teams for the stage round.

Solo Quiz Bowl

• It is totally a written competition
• There will be two bowls of Individual Quiz – 
(a) Art, Culture & Literature (b) Bangladesh

Rapid Chess

• The entry fee for Rapid Chess Contest is BDT 100 only. Contestant must bring their Registration Fee on the day of competition
• No spot registration will be allowed

Science Bowls

• Physics, Chemistry & Math Bowl is considered to be the Science Bowls
• Different skill based questions will be set from the academic syllabus.
• The syllabus of the Math Bowl will be followed by National Olympiads syllabus
• 80% Question will be set from problem solving & 20% from general knowledge/history of respective subject

Other Bowls

• Brain Bee: This contest will be like IQ test containing puzzles, riddles & some basic mathematical problems.

• Sudoku Contest: A Sudoku puzzle consists of 81 cells which are divided into nine columns, rows and regions. The task is now to place the numbers from 1 to 9 into the empty cells in such a way that in every row, column and 3×3 region each number appears only once.

• Criminal Case Challenge: It’s your turn to be Sherlock Holmes or Hercule-Poirot or Feluda! You will be given a crime case & your task will be solving the case & write logic on support of your argument. The top 3 participants to solve the case in least time will be awarded.

• English Olympiad: This is a one hour English test which will contain homophones, comprehension, parts of speech, word formations, basic grammar, correction, vocabulary, sentence construction, idioms and phrases etc.

• Bangla Olympiad: This is just like the English Olympiad. The test will contain basic grammar, correction,vocabulary & Bangla literature etc. 

Rubik’s Cube Contest

• The contestants must bring their own cubes for the competition
• The cubes will be shuffled by the organizers before the contest
• If anyone’s cube gets broken, He/she will be disqualified


Wall-magazine Contest

• Wall-magazine's theme is open
• The title of the wall magazine must be relevant to the content of the magazine.
• The size of the magazine should not cross 5x3 feet
• The number of members in each team MUST NOT EXCEED 3.
• Wall Magazine must be submitted on the venue on 5th June, 2014

Scrapbook Contest

• Scrapbook’s theme is open
• It’s a individual contest
• There is no size or page limit for the scrapbook
• The submission time of the scrapbook will be the same as wall magazine
